Steel

Philadelphia Gear pioneered the design and manufacture of the first basic oxygen furnace gear drive for the steel industry nearly 40 years ago. Today, we provide precision shell pinion gearing, rolling mill drives, reducers engineered for large loads, and other solutions designed to meet the various needs of the steel and metal processing industry.

Beyond manufacturing, Philadelphia Gear offers inspection and upgrade services, particularly for plants using earlier rolling mill designs. A leader in bringing carburized and ground technology to this area, Philadelphia Gear can inspect gearing to determine metallurgy and AGMA quality. Plus, if needed, we can increase load carrying capacity within the existing unit size, by utilizing upgraded gear element designs and processes (tooth contact improves by providing more accurate gearing).
